MA in Literature, Landscape & Environment

Welcome to our new Professor

Here at the MALLE, we’d like to welcome a new member of the English literature team, Professor John Strachan.

Professor Strachan’s research to date has focused on British Romanticism, with a particular attention to parady and satire, Romantic-era popular culture, literary magazines and the work of Leigh Hunt, John Keats and William Wordworth. He is currently guest-editing an Olympic-year issue of Romanticism, entitled ‘Romanticism and Sports’, working on an edition of Gryll Grange for the The Cambridge Edition of The Novels of Thomas Love Peacock, and on studies dealing with aspects of Victorian and early twentieth-century print culture. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. He will be co-curating (with the sculptor Professor Brian Thompson) the mixed-media exhibition at the Wordsworth Trust Museum, Grasmere in March 2013.
